Today was the second Sunday of Advent. Your child heard how the prophet Isaiah brought comfort to God’s people and told them to get a road ready for God (Isaiah 40:1–11). Then they met John the Baptist, who wore camel’s hair, ate locusts and wild honey, and helped people get ready for Jesus by turning back to God (Mark 1:1–8). We lit the second Advent candle, the candle of peace.
If your child made a paper Advent wreath last week, glue a flame on the PEACE candle. At dinner or bedtime this week, take turns naming one way someone in your family helped make peace that day.
Dear God, thank you for holding us close, like a shepherd holds the lambs. Help us say sorry, forgive each other, and make peace in our home. Amen.
